Cowboys of Chance Creek Vol 0 2 edition by Cora Seton Contemporary Romance eBooks

I’m very sorry to give a negative review, but I’d rather give my honest opinion than hedge the truth. Ms. Seton’s writing is technically very well done; grammar, spelling and punctuation are not lacking (and therefore distracting).
My negative feedback is regarding the characters and dialogue portrayed in her stories - basically, I didn’t like any of the characters at all. The women are weak, ridiculously display a lack of common sense or intellect, and are all pushovers. The men, whether they’re described as “smart” or “intellectual,” act, think and speak like they’re still in high school; they are bullies acting with very little restraint and a lot of childish behaviors.
These characters remind me of the bodice-rippers I read back in the seventies, but please...we no longer want to be coerced into a kiss, hug or assignation by force or threat - that’s just not sexy or romantic at all. If you want a good Hero type, think Rhett Butler or Jamie Fraser, whose desires seem to be prompted by passion, sensitivity and love versus their uncontrolled juvenile lust, but please stop writing men as boors and bullies.

The Cowboy Inherits a Bride
What does a girl do when she’s been beaten into the ground by the one she thought was going to be her future? Sunshine has lost it all in one day…her boyfriend, her job, and her home, as well as all of her savings, so when notice has come that her Aunt Cecily has left her a restaurant in Chance Creek, she takes what she has left and buys a bus ticket. But life hasn’t finished kicking Sunshine into the ground it would seem, because more bad news awaits her arrival. It would appear that she’s not quite finished fighting for survival. Cole has been dealt a raw deal by none other than his own father. While serving in the military, he receives paperwork requiring his signature to make him a partner in his fathers’ holdings, only to return Stateside to discover that they’re on the brink of bankruptcy. After his father passed away, he’s struggled to get the books back in the black, but only thanks to his indoor rifle range. But all of that would appear to be in jeopardy, thanks to the stunning blonde bombshell that just walked up to the building. Will they be able to find some sort of harmony between them or will one or the other, or both of them find themselves out on the street with nothing? A beautiful love story thanks to a meddling old woman.
Cora has a wonderful gift of bringing the worst situations and “making them work” and this book certainly fits the mould. Definitely worth the read.

The Cowboy’s E-mail Order Bride
What happens when practical jokes get out of hand? And just how far will a girl go to retain a job she’s not even sure she likes? Put these two together and the possibility of disaster is bound to strike….or will it? Once again, Cora Seton has gifted us with a story that will warm your heart even though there’s more than enough heartache to go around. Autumn is on the brink of loosing her job as a writer for a magazine and is up for just about anything to “get the story of the year”. Ethan is about to loose the family ranch, and possibly everything else, especially after his fiancée dumps him for the new guy in town, who, it would happen, is filthy rich. With some help from his “best friend” Rob, he gets drunk and spurts out just what he’s looking for in a wife, and as he’s making his drunken speech, of course Rob is making a video which he later edits and posts on You Tube as an ad for an e-mail order bride. When Autumn sees the post, she thinks it may be the answer to her prayers…not to be a bride, but to get the story she needs to keep her job. But things just don’t seem to work out as either Rob or Autumn planned, so with a bit of “help” from their friends, and some not so friends, life is about to change for both Ethan and Autumn. Only question is…will it be for the better, or the worse?
A beautiful love story you won’t want to miss. Loved it and am definitely looking forward to the next in the series.

The Cowboy Wins a Bride
What could possibly go wrong with a practical joke? Or a bet or two? And just how many heartaches can a girl take before she finally says enough is enough? Claire mooned over Jamie since forever, but when she saw him with another over two years ago, she finally made herself believe she could never have him. After finding her mother with another man other than her father many years ago, she’s put herself into a sort of family exile, and that would mean leaving all that she held dear to the heart, including her horses. But now, her parents gone after a brutal accident, and her brother married and in what appears to be bliss, she’s feeling alone and sorry for herself. Jamie finds himself the brunt of yet another of Rob’s practical jokes, so when he’s pushed, he accepts a bet he’s not quite ready for, but he’ll be damned if he won’t give it his best. All he has to do is convince Claire to marry him, before Labour Day.
So many emotions involved with this episode of the cowboys, that you won’t be sure of anything, until the end of course. Self pity, anger, confusion, and of course love, all team up with a bit of violence and crime, as well as an unexpected surprise or two, to make this one of the best books in the series so far. Absolutely worth the read!
Three fast-paced, full-length, sexy western romance novels.

The Cowboy Inherits a Bride
Sunshine's aunt left her a building for her restaurant and she is ready for it after disaster in the big city. Standing in her way is hometown country boy, Cole, also set to inherit the same building. Sunshine is strictly vegan and Cole is a carnivore, but both are hiding their true feelings from one another and letting the competition overwhelm their common sense. Opposites do attract and they have enough in common to make a relationship work. If only they each were not set on disliking the other because of the competition.

The Cowboy's E-Mail Order Bride
Ethan and his friends prank each other back and forth. The pranks escalate when Rob posts Ethan on YouTube asking for a wife. They go even farther, select a bride, and pay for her ticket to Montana from New York. Ethan is determined to send her home on the very next plane. Autumn is unhappy and desperate. She is about to lose her job when she applies to become Ethan's wife, all as an article for work. Ethan and Autumn hold back information from one another and neither tell the truth about the situation they are in together, but both fall in love with the other. They have a journey to travel before either can make it to the wedding. Ethan's ranch is in financial trouble, his sister has a buyer lined up, his ex-fiance is crazy and jumps in his life as often as possible, Autumn's mother hates men and tried to instill that in her daughters, the video lie, and the article lie...

The Cowboy Wins a Bride 3*
All Jamie Lassiter wants is to marry his best friend's sister, Claire, and settle down for the rest of his life in Chance Creek. He saved his money, bought into the Cruz Guest Ranch, but Claire is nowhere to be found. She is too busy leaving Montana behind Desperate to change Claire's mind, Jamie proposes a bet give him six weeks to convince her to marry him. Claire is more interested in getting revenge on her ex boyfriend/boss who ran away with all her money. Claire has more issues because she discovered her mother's marital indiscretions. She is convinced Jamie is joking about the proposal, despite his reassurances he is not, and that he is a cheater like her mother and ex. Claire was very unlikeable, way too insistent everyone was a cheater, and set on revenge. Jamie was wonderful and too agreeable to her wild demands.
I like to finish a book, but the h was so unbelievably immature I couldn't stand reading her whining and accusations. She constantly jumped to conclusions and refused to listen to any explanations. I wound up barely skimming pages just to get to the end. The H was too weak to stand up to her, and there were a few unnecessary extra plots happening. Frequent use of the "f___" word and the sex were also a turnoff for me.
